An Usual Unusual Hallway
The hallway looks very ordinary and gnomish. Remnants of devices that
have suffered an improvement, gadgets, novelties and trinkets litter the
floor. Upon closer examination it almost seems as if the baubles have been
scattered pell-mell intentionally, for there is too much of them even for
gnomes. The hallway continues north and south, and by comparison it seems
to be clean in those directions. There are a few portraits placed on the
walls.

them framed with a black border-line to show they have died a heroic death
(perished in their own experiments, the martyrs of science). A large
portrait is placed over a door to the east, this one bearing an aged elf.
The portrait gallery extends to the north, and a hallway leads to the
west.

Weird Smelling Corridor
An ominous smell lingers here. It actually seems two different bouquets
of scents mix here, one coming from the south and smelling of something
vaguely resembling blood, and the other coming from the west and bringing
the aroma of rotten fish and burned bread. A door can be noticed to the
east and a portrait hangs upon it. By the way, the wall to the north has
been greatly improved to act both as a wall and a passage.

Portrait Gallery and Lecture Hall Entrance
Portraits of the great gnomish inventors, the jewels of the nation, are
hung on the walls. Although painted with a lot of diligence, they do not
depict anything even remotely resembling gnomes. A pair of doors stands to
the south, kept loose, and all kinds of mumbling, grumbling, laughing and
hissing is heard coming from behind them.
